Attended a wedding dinner @ Raffles The Plaza. A very big ballroom of about 65 tables and I heard a table costed $1000. The food is so-so and rather not worth the money. Service not very good, doesnt live up to its 5 or 6 stars standard. The dinner started very late, around 9pm. Heard from a friend that the bride's gown was stained by some makeup and before this, the makeup artist was late and only turned up @ 7pm. The artist quickly salvaged the situation by covering the stain, not sure what she did. Oh gosh, I would be fumming mad if such things happened on my big day. To me, it seems so inauspicious when things didnt went on smoothly. The worst part is, some of the wine glasses toppled when the newly-wed were pouring the champagne. What the hell, I would say its the hotel's fault for this mistake. They must have not arranged the glasses properly or this wouldn't have happened. If I were them, I would definitely request for some compensation for ruining my big day! Finally the dinner ended and as most of the guests had left the ballroom. Some of our friends lighted their cigarettes and started to smoke inside the place. FYI, smoking is strictly prohibited. It was very inconvenient when smoking is not even allowed at the reception area, all smokers have to walk all the way out to the main entrance. We just went on puffing until the third person (* think its the manager) came and warned us. I think some of them had too much and were talking very loudly, challenged one another to bottoms up. Its quite a comical scene but I think they had overdid, anyway should be okay since its a happy occasion, right??
